Miniature Modelling with a Focus on Detail and Craft
Tucked within the creative spaces of the Artisans’ Guild, the Queensland Figure Modellers bring a unique and highly detailed craft to life—one miniature at a time.
This small, dedicated group focuses on the art of scale figure modelling, working with kits, 3D printed pieces, and original sculpts. Each project requires patience, precision, and a steady hand, with members carefully assembling and painting figures that range from historical subjects through to fantasy and character-based designs.
Rather than a formal class, the group offers an informal and welcoming environment where participants work on their own projects while sharing ideas, techniques, and practical advice. This creates a space where learning happens naturally—through conversation, observation, and a shared appreciation for the craft.
The group includes a mix of experience levels, from those just starting out to highly skilled modellers. This balance encourages skill development at every level, whether it’s learning the basics of assembly or refining the fine detail that brings a miniature to life.
Meetings are held on the last Saturday of each month, alternating between the Artisans’ Guild in Burpengary East and the Alexandra Hills Men’s Shed. Participants bring their own materials and tools, allowing them to focus on projects that reflect their individual interests and style.
While the finished pieces are often impressive, the real value lies in the process—taking time to focus, develop skills, and enjoy the quiet satisfaction of creating something by hand.
For those curious about the craft, visitors are welcome to come along, observe, and see the level of detail involved before getting started themselves.
The Queensland Figure Modellers continue to offer a supportive and engaging space for anyone interested in this specialised and rewarding hobby.
