When the Hall Came Alive

SNAPSHOT

Starting in 1988, the Artisans’ Guild held an annual Member’s Art and Craft show in the Caboolture Memorial Hall. Our members filled the hall with their work; we had an official opening ceremony by a member of the Shire Council, performances by various groups, and commercial display stands by art and craft businesses from within the shire. The shows went for three days and were very successful, with large numbers of visitors and many sales. In 1994, the exhibition was opened to non-members and the volume of entries increased dramatically. These annual exhibitions continued until the Guild moved permanently to its current location in Burpengary East in 2010.

A Step Back in Time: When the Hall Came Alive

Three days of art, community, and creativity in full swing

Before permanent gallery walls… there was a hall filled to the brim with creativity.

Starting in 1988, the Artisans Guild held its annual Members’ Art and Craft Show in the Caboolture Memorial Hall — and for three days each year, the space came alive.

Tables, walls, and display stands were filled with handmade work from Guild members. Every corner told a different story — painting, craft, sculpture, and more — all brought together under one roof.

But it wasn’t just an exhibition.

Each event opened with an official ceremony, often led by a member of the Shire Council. There were performances from local groups, adding energy and atmosphere, and commercial display stands from art and craft businesses across the region.

It became more than a showcase — it became an event.

And the community responded.

Visitors came in large numbers. Conversations flowed. Sales were made. Connections were built. Year after year, the exhibition grew in both size and reputation.

Then in 1994, something shifted again.

The exhibition was opened to non-members — and with that, the number of entries increased dramatically. The event expanded, bringing even more artists, makers, and visitors into the fold.

These annual exhibitions continued to thrive for many years, becoming a defining part of the Guild’s presence in the region… right up until 2010, when the Guild transitioned fully into its permanent home in Burpengary East.

But for those who remember —
those three days in the hall were something special.

A space filled with creativity, community, and the unmistakable buzz of people coming together to share what they love.
