Imaginative Pieces Inspired By Nature And Memory
Katrina Thompson’s creative journey began alongside her mother and sister, in an environment where making and sharing craft was part of everyday life. Inspired deeply by her late sister’s work, Katrina found her own path through creating handmade baskets before expanding into decorative pieces.
Her illuminated bottles, featuring fairy lights combined with jute, hessian, lace and natural elements, reflect both her connection to the outback and her interest in texture and atmosphere. These pieces are designed to bring warmth and a gentle glow, highlighting the beauty of simple, organic materials.
Katrina describes her style as imaginative and experimental, often exploring new techniques and approaches. She enjoys the process of working with her hands, allowing each piece to evolve naturally.
She shares her skills by teaching craft at a local aged care centre and regularly sells her work at community stalls. Katrina continues to explore new ideas, always guided by curiosity and a willingness to try something different. Her approach remains simple—enjoy the process and don’t be afraid to experiment.
