Christmas with Heart, Early 1990s

SNAPSHOT

In the early 1990s, the Artisans’ Guild arranged an annual Christmas party for the clients of the local Endeavour facility. Our members prepared an excellent party spread and arranged gifts, with Santa handing out the gifts to the very excited party goers. This continued for several years until someone higher up in Endeavour deemed that it was inappropriate to have Santa for adults, so the parties ended.

A Step Back in Time: Christmas with Heart, Early 1990s

Bringing joy, connection, and a little magic to the community.

Some moments aren’t about buildings or milestones… they’re about people.

This photograph takes us back to the early 1990s, when the Artisans Guild hosted an annual Christmas party for clients of the local Endeavour facility — a tradition built on generosity, care, and community spirit.

Each year, Guild members came together to create something truly special. They prepared a full party spread, organised gifts, and most importantly, gave their time.

And of course — there was Santa.

With laughter in the air and excitement all around, Santa handed out gifts to delighted partygoers, creating moments that were simple, joyful, and genuinely meaningful. You can almost feel the energy in this photo — the smiles, the anticipation, the shared experience.

It wasn’t about formality.
It wasn’t about appearances.

It was about connection.

This tradition continued for several years, becoming a much-loved event for everyone involved. Over time, however, changes in direction meant the parties came to an end, with the decision made that the format was no longer appropriate.

But what remains is what truly matters.

The memory of a group of people who showed up, gave back, and created joy — simply because they could.

And in the end, that says just as much about the Artisans Guild as any exhibition or gallery ever could.
